CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #508 – Color

Our design team member Valérie is our hostess for the month of April. That said, unfortunately she asked to take a leave of absence to focus on some personal matters, our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with her as she walks through this chapter, and hope she can join us again soon. We start the month of strong with her rich vibrant color challenge. What are you feelin’ with these colors? Would love to see what you were inspired to create with this color combination. At the time of this writing – we are preparing to head down to the beach for Spring Break. Still a little chilly down there, the water will be freezing – but kids have no blood, my daughter is a competitive swimmer and used to cold water (not quite this cold though), and my son will be winding down from a crazy successful High School basketball career, putting his mind at ease in the surf and sand, enjoying time with family and visiting with other friends that will also be in our neck of the woods. So long story short – I have beachy thoughts running through my mind along with the tropical fruity festive umbrella drinks that tend to accompany those thoughts! I used the Stylish Shapes Circles to die cut the matts in Basic White and Melon Mambo for my very fruity beachy cocktail. I blended Crushed Curry ink over the Basic White circle just for a touch of brightness but not white. From the Nothings Better Stamp set I envisioned my favorite beachy cocktail – Mai Tai, inked with Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. The garnish apparently will be a lemon wedge (for challenge purposes only) stamped in crushed curry ink, The umbrella brings a touch of the Shaded Spruce. The sentiment again combines the Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo inks – giving me the air brushed feel that is on oh so many beachy tourist t-shirts, hats, bags, etc.
