Welcome to September! Val\u00e9rie<\/strong> is in the driver seat for this month, and I LOVE the colors she has put together for our first color challenge of the month! I am hankering for sometime in the mountains hanging out in a cabin with a warm fire, glass of wine, good book and crisp cool mornings. Sunrise in the mountain is also gorgeous, that is where my mind went with these colors – a sunrise\/sunset. This card actually came together really quickly and came together in the way my minds eye was hoping to go! From White cardstock I cut a large stitched circle, then a smaller stitched circle for the “Happy Birthday” sentiment. Using a homemade large circle stencil I used blending brushes to create the the rising sun and polished pink cloud cover that blends lightly into Gorgeous Grape. I stamped the mountains in Gorgeous Grape ink on Gorgeous Grape cardstock and die cut with the coordinating die. I die cut the scene with a slightly smaller circle than the stitched circle mat, then laid out the mountains and cut them down to fit. The mountains are attached to panel with dimensionals to get that gorgeous feeling of depth. Inside the card, I lined the bottom with another purple mountain range for a significant pop of color! What you won’t see is the doctoring I will do to the card front now to make it even more birthday worthy. I plan on die cutting 18 in metallic gold card stock and placing the on\/along\/beside the lower left of the mountain range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be a birthday card for my son, whom turns 18 – he has his sights set on a college that happens to be in the mountains, he loves the mountains (just like his mama – apple\/tree), that might explain why mountains were the first thing to pop into my mind! Cross your fingers….say a prayer….. he may get a scholarship offer for basketball there. Stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
