Tropical Silhouette Birthday Wishes

This post brings you a card created for Global Design Project challenge; Case the Designer #GDP236. The card we are CASing is quite beautiful and was designed by Janneke De Jong.

Here is what I came up with.

I went with a Basic Black top folding card base. The mat is a layer of Gray Granite topped with Whisper White. With a blending brush I applied Daffodil Delight ink to top 1/3 of the Whisper White, Crumb Cake ink to the bottom and Pool Party ink in the middle.

The focal images come from the Timeless Tropical Bundle (the stamped and die cut palm trees, and the stamped pineapple inside the card) in the Mini Catalog and the Friendly Silhouettes Dies (the basic black die cut palm trees and the crumb cake sand layer) that are bundled with the Friend Like You Bundle from the Annual Catalog. The background for the focal images uses the Stitched Nested Label Dies from the Free as a Bird Bundle. The sentiment “Happy Birthday” is from the Itty Bitty Birthday Greetings stamp set. With blending brushes on the Stitched Nested Label die cut, with a blending brush I applied Pool Party to the bottom portion. I added the water effects with the Pool Party Light Stampin’ Blends Marker and a white gel pen. The Basic Black palm tree die cuts were attached first, then I trimmed the Palm Trees off of the Crumb Cake die cut to portray the sand. I inked the edges with Crumb Cake ink for depth and texture. On a scrap piece of Whisper White, I stamped the Palm Trees from the Timeless Tropical stamp set in Crumb cake and Old Olive, then die cut with the coordinating In the Tropics dies and attached with dimensionals.

Inside of the card is lined with a piece of Whisper White, then in the lower right corner I stamped the pineapple image from the Timeless Tropical Die set in Garden Green and Crumb Cake.
