CAS Colours & Sketches – Sketch Challenge #533

Hello and Welcome!

Today, is the release of our latest card challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Joanne has created a really fun sketch to jump start our creative juices.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

I had so many ideas for what to do with this sketch I couldn’t settle on one. Finally I just decided to stop overthinking it and this is what came out. I am loving the Fern 3D embossing folder – it has been a favorite for awhile but it definitely (in my mind) has a time and place. Well today it is the Super Star of the show. One thing – one thing – doesn’t get any cleaner or simpler than that.

First I ran a couple pieces of quarter sheet Basic White Cardstock through the embossing machine with the 3D Fern Embossing Folder. One will remain just a white textures piece for the background and the other will be lightly colored with a few coats of Lemon Lime Twist and a sponge dauber. Then I cut out 1″ circles from the colorized piece, attached the circles to the card front with dimensionals. The sentiment “It’s a New Day” comes from the Easter Bunny Stamp Set. I stamped it in Garden Green – in hind sight I’m thinking Old Olive would have probably been a better choice. Lemon Lime Twist for the sentiment would have been too light,in my opinion, that is why I went with a different color.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. That’s fab Shannon – I love all the texture from the embossing!

Such a clever idea, Shannon! The embossing folder is gorgeous, but you’ve kept the CAS feel with the single colour ferns. Lovely!
