This week at CAS Colours & Sketches, Patricia has come up with this fun sketch challenge. We can’t wait to see what this sketch inspires you to create. Have a go, then please post your card creation to our challenge gallery.
I was not only inspired by this challenge, but I have also been challenged with the whole Christmas in July concept and of course all the Christmas cards being created as of late. So, I give your an answer to this sketch, filled with a whole bunch of OOPS (x2)! Thankfully with the realization that the sketch can be rotated or flipped, I took full artistic license and absolutely followed the path that the OOPS (x2) lead me down. Is anyone familiar Caroline Dube – a Mixed Media artist who does a lot of Gel Printing. She has a cute take on mistakes – or O.P.P.S. – Outstanding Opportunities Presenting Suddenly! Case in point, that is exactly what we have here (x2).
How did all the OOPS begin? Bottom line – carelessness! I began on the red card, all was going according to plan, until at the time of sentiment placement I realized I designed the card front upside down – the opening was at the top. That clearly meant I didn’t follow the sketch as presented – so, I gold embossed the sentiment after I figured out my careless error.
To save face, I created the green card – all was going according plan – at least with orientation. I gold embossed the dots along the outline of the curve – also apart of the plan, however, it got very sloppy under the snowflake! So now the snowflake is on the opposite side, the sketch has now been flipped. I Gold embossed the sentiment, again in the wrong place and simply admitted defeat. All in all – I think all my O.O.P.S. turned out fairly successfully! While not spot on, I am pleased.
