A Dreamy Cosmic Shaker card for TGIF Challenges

Hey everyone, so glad you had a few minutes to share with me, thanks for stopping by!

Today I have a card created for TGIF Challenges #tgifc222. They requested we try and shake things up….literally! You guessed it, I have for you a shaker card, these are such fun. With school starting for my kids next week – one is starting High School, the other is starting Middle School – chaos and insanity is the name of the game this week. It is so nice to firstly, sit down, and secondly create something fun.

Jumping right in the card base is a half sheet Night of Navy, cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ creating a top fold card.

For the picture inside of the shaker, I pulled out the galaxy image from Stargazing placing it on a large clear block – I must say this idea came to me after seeing a night sky Tina Wardell had created using the same stamp image. I used finger daubers to ink up the stamp with Flirty Flamingo, Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather then stamped on a quarter piece of Whisper White card stock – cut to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ – repeating until it was covered. Then I pulled out the Unicorn image from Leave a Little Sparkle. OK, Yes I know I said unicorn, this is my card and I can do what I want! Also, the wrath of my daughter would be quick and decisive. In this house for peaceful reasons, Unicorns are way better than the other equally as beautiful mythical horse figure that is way more cool because he can fly!

Moving on. Using Versamark for the unicorn image from Leave a Little Sparkle and the constellation images from Little Twinkle, I stamped a on the colored background and white heat embossed all the images. On a Night of Navy piece of scrap I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Stargazing. Using the coordinating punch to Little Twinkle called the Twinkle Builder Punch, I punch out several stars on Silver Foil paper to use inside the shaker. Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies I cut a frame from Night of Navy card stock. For inside the card on a piece of Whisper White I stamped the twinkling stars image from the Stargazing stamp set in Highland Heather, going on and attaching it to the inside of the card with liquid adhesive.

Now it is time to construct the shaker portion of this card. Using Tearing tape I attached the acetate window sheet to the back of the Night of Navy frame. I scattered some seed beads and the silver stars I punched on the finished stamped background piece, making sure not to over do it. Now the foam strips are attached to the back of the Night of Navy frame, then the frame is attached to background image. Once all is found to be in good shape I attach the completed shaker unit to a slightly larger mat of Whisper White. Then attached all of that with liquid adhesive to the Night of Navy card base.

The remaining sentiment is cut out with a label die from the Merry Christmas Die set, then attached to the card front with liquid adhesive. I decided a little more celestial sparkle needed to brought in, thus the addition of the silver sequins.

Thanks so much fro spending some time with me, hope you enjoyed the visit. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team or to see what other designers have created for this challenge, take another minute or two and hop on over to TGIF Challenges.

It is time for me to go for a bit, I shall return soon with something new. Just remember to keep crafting, exploring and creating. See you soon.
