A Golden Friend like you
Hey everyone, thanks so much for stopping by, so glad you could visit.
This is a creation for a color challenge over at the Paper Players Color Challenge: PP454. The color challenge is to use Black, White and one other color. I went with Black, White and Gold.
The idea for this card, for unknown reasons, just hit me over the head! Honestly, the stamp set was screaming at me as were the colors. This card came together faster than most anything else I have come up with. It was absolutely crazy!
This card starts with a half sheet of Basic Black card stock cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ then scored at 5-1/2″, to create a top folding card. The image, sentiment and die cuts all come from the Friend Like You silhouette Bundle.
On a scrap piece of Basic Black, I stamped the tall grasses in versa mark then heat embossed in gold. I did the same for the white cat tails and flowers, except heat embossing in White. The dragon flies are cut from gold foil using the dragonflies from the coordinating die set. The sentiment “Happy Day” is also stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed in black.
The basic black piece is then trimmed up by using the stitched rectangle dies. The gold foil mat behind is also cut from the stitched rectangle dies as is the white mat. Behind the white mat is a gold foil mat with clean edges, not die cutting. The gold mat is attached to the black card base. The finished focal piece is then attached to the whisper white mat, as well as the dragonflies, above the embossed sentiment.
The finished whisper white panel is then attached to a slightly smaller sized piece of craft foam – just my favorite way to mount the finished panel if I want extra dimension. So much more sturdy, in my opinion, to use a sheet of craft foam rather than tons of dimensionals for the larger parts and pieces (much more economical as well). Goes quite nicely through the mail with out extra postage as well.
Inside the card, which cannot be ignored, has a whisper white liner with a strip of gold foil and gold dragon fly attached at the bottom, as well.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I do appreciate it! I love how this card came together. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team behind these challenges or to see what other creative designers have come up with for this and other challenges, hop on over to The Paper Players. Now I must head out, but I shall return with something new very soon. Until then keep crafting, exploring and creating.
