Today I have for you a card created for the Sketch Challenge #GDP238 at Global Design Project. This sketch was so much fun, I loved playing with the graduated background, and for whatever reason, The Timeless Tropical Suite popped into my mind instantly. I needed to play with the colors of the suite. Dreaming of sandy beaches I suppose.
here we go….off to a tropical oasis calling our names and welcoming us in!
The background is created by washing water color paper with Real Red starting at the bottom and blending through Calypso Coral, Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight and So Saffron. Then I trimmed the finished piece down and used some of the remnants to create the die cut “Aloha” sentiment. All the images and the sentiment of this card come from the Timeless Tropical Bundle. It is such a beautiful collection, so many options are open to you with the Hibiscus flower alone. This flower is stamped in Real Red and Daffodil Delight. Then I filled the flower with the Water color pencils using Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Black and Early Espresso. The leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron. Then sponged with additional Pear Pizzazz. I laid a birds nest of Linen Thread behind the flower image. The sentiment “Aloha” is cut from the remnants of the water colored background, cut with the coordinating die cuts In the Tropics which is part of the bundle. The sentiment is attached to a piece of patterned paper from the Designer Series Paper that is part of this Suite. I used the Gilded Gems to bedazzle card front!
Inside is not to be out done. Inside I stamped another floral image from this set in the lower corner, in Real Red and Daffodil Delight. Again, I colored it with the watercolor pencils mentioned earlier. I masked off the flower image and stamped the smallest swirl from the Swirly Frames Stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. I thought it could represent the Linen Thread Birds nest from the front of the card. Hopefully that worked out as planned.
