An athletic birthday card.

This is created for my son’s best friends and practically my own son. They have been the best of buds since the 2nd grade, now they play JV basketball together at their High School! Time flies…..now both of my young men are on the verge of leaving the nest. His best friend has been with us so much I count him as my own son! My heart if full, sad and happy all at the same time!

While “both” of my boys play basketball, they are now driving basketball players. This makes family logistics so much easier…..however, I am painfully aware of every siren I here in the area. We live in the mountains for Birmingham so listening is as easy as it would seem. How far away is that siren, which way is that siren headed, how long does it take to reach its destination and turn off?????? So many questions. However, “my” boys will not be my biggest concern…..that is still to come……a little firecracker of a daughter that is willing to try ANYTHING at least once. My daredevil….that is when I will require some valium.

This card is yet another play I had with the oh so much fun Quite Curvy Bundle, predominately the dies of this bundle called Curvy Dies. Throw in a little bit of Plaid Tiding’s DSP and the Playful Alphabet dies and we are set. I should also mention their High School colors are Orange and Black!

I must tell you, I took a poll in the house, showing everyone Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze (my husband played basketball through High School and College) asking which one more so represents a basketball to you…..everyone answered Pumpkin Pie. To me, I would have gone with Cajun Craze…but, majority rules. I used Black Glitter Paper die cut with the Layering Circle dies to set off the basketball. I used the Stitched Shapes Circles to cut out the basketball in Pumpkin Pie. I then drew on the lines in black pen so it could represent a basketball! I die cut the numbers “16” from the Playful Alphabet dies and there it is. The greeting “With a Great Big Wish of Happiness” and sentiment inside “Happy Birthday” have come from a retired stamp set from last years Sale-A-Bration called “Sending you Thoughts” stamp set.
