Card Challenges

Best Dad

Hello everyone, thank you so much for stopping by. I really do appreciate the visit. Today I come to you with a card created for TGIF Card Challenges #TGIFC209 a Sepia Challenge.

I love doing card challenges, they have give your mind new directions that may be off your mental radar, out of your comfort zone. They are designed to push you into a broader creativity. I thrive on that push. Please visit TGIF Card Challenges, take a look around the site and see if it is your cup of tea!

For this weeks challenge we designed around Sepia tones. To me Sepia is
more of a orange brown color not so much brown. For that reason I used a splash of Cajun Craze, which seems to me to be more of a Sepia color. Though in watercolor form it did turn out a bit more red but was still the pop of color this card needed.

I am starting to move from the Mothers Day focus to the Fathers Day focus, though there is a birthday or two (my sisters, for one) I still need to address between to the two Holidays. My dad has a country/farming background, this truck from the Country Livin’ stamp set just screams country and farm and I thought of my dad instantly when I saw the set. So for nostalgia reasons I purchased it with him in mind from the get go! So happy to finally use it. Dad used to wear cowboy boots with his daily business attire back in the day as well. Now that he has retired, he is more of a beach dweller, golf course, docksiders kind of guy. I will be using the boots for him in some creation soon I can feel it!

In this card I used the all the brown papers with a bonus hint of Wood Textures DSP, pulling from the wood panels on the back-end of the truck. This card definitely has the male, earthy, country livin’, casual kind of vibe. I used the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for a needed element of texture/interest. I used a strip of the Wood Textures DSP for pattern but also because it mimic’s the feel of the wood paneling on the back-end of the truck. The pieces of Very Vanilla were “distressed” by running the Soft Suede Ink pad around the edges, and did the same for the Story Label punch sentiment piece. The Tree is from the Sheltering Tree Stamp set, this is probably my most favorite tree of all the stamps. With the “leaves” being a 2nd step stamp the tree can fit for every season. It is sheltering the antique truck fairly nicely! The Sentiment came from the Geared up Garage stamp set. It seemed to fit this card style the best to me. Behind the sentiment is a “nest” of linen thread which continued to pull on the earthy vibe of this card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card created for the TGIF Card Challenge Sepia Tones Study #TGIFC209. Check out their site, full of great ideas! Well, I must leave you, more cards to create. We will chat again soon, hopefully tomorrow. Have a great day!
