CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #532

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

Welcome to our first challenge of March. Has Spring sprung in your area of the map? It certainly has in my neck of the woods. Daffodils and the Hyacinths are in full bloom, the Hydrangeas or just beginning to wake up. Pretty soon there will be a yellow haze everywhere you look. Our March hostess is Joanne, first up is a color challenge that is pretty fun and actually, for me, instantly brought to mind a memory that I chose to go with for this card creation. Hopefully my memory and Joanne’s Color combination will spark a fun memory for you as well.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

There was no stopping the memory that instantly flashed in my mind when I saw this color combination. So crazy because I haven’t thought about this in so so long, how does that happen? So what is the memory that sprung into my mind when I saw these colors? This will be something the older crowd will most likely be able to relate to – at least in the states, I’m not to sure how wide the reach for this was. This is the soda my mother drank a good bit back in the 70’s, a Coca Cola product called Fresca. Back in the day it was more of a Lemon Lime Drink like Sprite or 7UP (another blast from the past). Now it is a fruit flavored sparkling water.

I have this super fun stamp set called Simply Sparkling – so when my moms drink of choice popped in my head – I knew I had to follow through with it…..especially since I could. A one stamp set and die set wonder. Started with the standard A4 side folding Basic White Thick cardstock card base. I used a piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock with a deckle edge rectangle die to get a background, though looking at it now and 2nd guessing myself – I’m thinking a circle might have been the better choice (as related to bubbles). Then on Basic White I stamped the can in Azure Afternoon, stamped the lime and lime slice in Old Olive and stamped the effervescence behind with Balmy Blue. I used the coordinating die set to cut out the can and the Basic White cardstock bubbles. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue, then simply cut out the strip with a paper trimmer. I glued the bubbles to the Balmy Blue background, and glued the sentiment to the front of the can. I attached the can to the bubbles with dimensionals just to to be extra! Inside does not go untouched of course, the lime and the effervescence are carried through inside.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit.
