Today, I have for you the first card challenge in June for CAS Colours & Sketches – Sketch Challenge #562. Can’t wait to see where your imagination takes you with this. Please consider sharing your inspired card creation with our design team by posting in our challenge gallery.

This is where my head went with this sketch challenge. It really came together pretty quickly, I used bits and pieces of things already created or cut! I am in need of birthday cards, keeping that need in mind off I went. This one turned out to be fairly masculine looking, in my opinion. BUT! I honestly think it could go either way.
The card base is a standard A4 top fold card in Old Olive cardstock. The background layer is a pattern from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper collection. Love a good wood print…. I cut the white rectangles from scrap white cardstock, each are 1-1/4″ x 1″, then I inked around the edges with Old Olive and attached to the card base with dimensionals. The plain white just didn’t feel rustic enough to work with the rustic feel of the card, had to be done. The Happy Birthday sentiment is gold embossed, cut with a Stitched Rectangle die, the sprigs of leaves and berries were die cuts I had laying around as extras. I attached them to the back of the sentiment panel and attached the whole grouping to the front of the rectangles, with tape runner.
Those who know me, know the inside is never ignored. I had another leaf sprig and trimmings from this project that I attached to a white cardstock liner inside the card.
Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item. Thanks for giving us a great sketch Shannon – I really had to get my thinking cap on for this one. Love your dark background against the white rectangles – fab interpretation!
Love your background, Shannon, there’s so much texture to it. And a perfect masculine card, too!
