Welcome to the 5th week of August and yet another month down. The 5th week of a month means something extra fun and special her at CAS Colours & Sketches. It means….double the fun, double the pleasure and/or double the trouble. Our awesome hostess Nancy has created a challenge that celebrates the end of Summer but also feels like Fall/Autumn to me…again, that is just me! So I’m quite curious what this combination inspires you to create. Please do post your card creations on our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

My stash didn’t include any of these retired Stampin’ Up! colors, except – somehow I have cardstock in Wild Wasabi! Who Knew! So, you should pick up quite quickly what I did with Wild Wasabi. For the other colors, the closest match I had for Blue Bayou is Bermuda Bay, in my head. However, I feel like Blue Bayou is definitely more gray/muted than Bermuda Bay. Purely Pomegranate has the same issue, the best I think I have is Melon Mambo. Aside from figuring out the colors – which I tend to research what is the closes most possible match I can get. That would be the architect/preservationist/literalist in me. Otherwise this card was super simple to put together – a daisy punch to punch out 2 Melon Mambo flowers, a strip of Wild Wasabi and a strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock trimmed and glued together, then embossed for a little more excitement. Because a girl can’t have to many Birthday cards on hand a Happy Birthday sentiment from Happiness Abounds stamp set, in Bermuda Bay ink. I used the timeworn Embossing folder on a tiny scrap of basic white cardstock, cut with a tiny flower punch and used that as the center of the flower. Inside the card – I used a floral image and leaf sprig images from Happiness Abounds stamp set stamped them in the challenge colors (Ink color of Old Olive sufficed for Wild Wasabi) then colored in with coordinating watercolor pencils.
