There are 5 weeks in May, you know what that means? The Double Challenge. Patricia, has gone into the vault to select a sketch AND a color challenge using some bright and fun retired Stampin’ Up! colors (for reference only). I am very excited to see what everyone is inspired to create. Please feel free to post your card creation in our Challenge Gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches

As I have mentioned previously, the season of birthdays is upon me! I can’t seem to keep enough of a stash so I find myself making in Birthday card mode a good bit at this time of year. I don’t have any of these specific colors in my stash so I went with what I thought was best, Tahitian Tide, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral. I felt the need for some blending so I started on a quarter piece of Basic White cardstock, a blending brush, and off to inking bliss. I came back with a polka dot stencil in my stash going back over the colors with the same color to add a bit more interest. What I found interesting, in the end, is that the Tahitian Tide, when I was stenciling the dots – went on and appeared to be a darker 2 tone Tahitian Tide, as it dried it definitely went a bit green. Don’t understand how that came to pass as it dried, when it didn’t go on that way. Art is a process, sometimes the process takes it in a different direction. Still trying to decide if I like this direction! So now I have my angled element for the card front. On Basic White card stock I stamped the sentiment In Memento Black from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. I used the Sentiment Silhouettes die cuts. The Sentiment Silhouettes die set also has some candle bits and pieces so I die cut a couple of those to decorate the inside of the card. I also used a piece of the triangular cuts from the piece on the front.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item. If you would like to learn more about this challenge or to see what other talented designers have created for this challenge, hop on over to CAS Colours & Sketches. I will return soon with something new. Until then, stay safe, and by all means keep crafting, exploring and creating. See you soon.
