For this post I have a card I created for the Global Design Project Challenege #GDP240 – Case the Designer. When you CASE a card, you can take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set – the colors, the layout, the theme, the images – whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own. For this challenge, we are CASE-ing this beautiful card designed by Kerstin Kreis

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

Something about this card made my mind jump directly to the Peaceful Poppies Suite. The aqua color in this card reminds me of Pool Party and then the red is reasonably close to Poppy Parade…that’s my story and I am sticking to it! That color combo just puts my mind right in the middle of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper. I clearly took the color scheme in a different direction but this is how Kerstin’s card influenced me.

I fell in line with the folded paper flower, I love the dimension it adds and it has quite the presence. I created the flower using a pattern from the Peaceful Poppies DSP – there were so many GORGEOUS Designer Series Paper Packs released in the January – June Mini Catalog, but oh my goodness this was probably hands down my absolute favorite. I am so very sorry to see this paper retire in 2 weeks. I pulled my color scheme right from this pack. Poppy Parade, Blackberry Bliss and Crushed Curry. I stamped the daisies from the Daisy Lane stamp set in Poppy Parade on Whisper White and Poppy Parade cardstock, then punched them out with the coordinating Medium Daisy punch. The Ribbon is the Whisper White crinkled seam binding that I colored with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends Marker.

The Sentiments “Smile” and “time to shine” also come from the Daisy Lane Stamp set. “Time to Shine” is a masked version of “it’s your time to shine”. Using the Dot stencil from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks, I blended Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry and Poppy Parade to create the pattern and appearance of the the confetti represented on Kerstin’s card. All of the elements are placed on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then matted with Blackberry Bliss and attached to the Whisper White cardbase.

I very very rarely leave the inside ignored….this time was no different. I again used the dot stencil and blended the same colors to create a border along the outside edge.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit.
