CAS Colours & Designs hostess Patricia brings to us a sketch challenge and the final challenge for the month of July! Can not believe summer is nearly over, it has absolutely flown by at our house. I was able to slow down enough to create a card for this challenge. I am so interested to see where your mind took you with this challenge. Please do post your card creations to our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

This challenge took a bit of thinking and looking for inspiration, it had me a bit stumped. Still on my Christmas in July thought process, and trying on ideas for my own Christmas cards, I was finally able to come up with Christmas Card that I actually like a good bit. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

This card uses the Christmas Season stamp set and the coordinating Seasonal Labels Dies. The Pinecone is stamped in Soft Suede and Early Espresso (such a rich combination). The pine sprigs are stamped in Garden Green and Old Olive, the berries are stamped in Cherry Cobbler (my favorite red!) and Soft Suede. All the pieces are die cut. On a piece of basic white, using post it notes, I created the cone of Balmy blue which I blended between the pieces of post it note. Before I glued everything down, I gold embossed the sentiment, “Tis the Season”, which came from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set.

I see so many options that could take this from Clean and Simple to far more advanced – I am anxious to try those ideas out now.

I absolutely LOVE this beautiful CAS card Shannon! The cone shaped ink blend is such a subtle but effective device to lead the eye in to that gorgeous cluster of festive foliage, and that embossed sentiment is just the perfect finishing touch! Vicky x
