Card Challenges

Congratulations!

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Today I am sharing with you a card created for Theme Challenge #GDP239 at Global Design Design Project. The theme is Wedding, so I am sending the gorgeous lucky couple a card of Congratulations!

Oddly enough, I was sitting outside this morning, drinking my coffee and watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder, when this design popped into my head! If you can figure out the connection, please feel free to enlighten me. So, here we go.

Super simple to get together, I just had to work out the color scheme, finally landed on Rococo Rose and Silver. Without question the card base and background were going to be White! Therefore, I start with a side folding Whisper White card base. For the front, I dry embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder, cut it down then matted with a piece of Silver Foil. I have marathon die cutting sessions from time to time using the dies I feel will be one of my go to’s. The dies in the Stitched be Mine die set are definitely a go-to, so I have several ready and waiting. The Rococo Rose and Silver Foil hearts were ready and waiting! The hearts are attached with liquid glue to the front panel. The bottom portion of the panel is wrapped with the Silver Edged Metallic Ribbon, then topped off with a silver heat embossed “Congratulations” sentiment from the retiring Flourishing Phrases stamp set. I love the font, the clean lines and the font size…it is perfect. I will be quite sorry to see it go. The sentiment was die cut using a frame from the Ornate Frame Dies introduced in the Holiday Catalog. For a little more interest, I used dimensionals to attach the sentiment to the front panel. The finished front panel is attached to a piece of white craft foam and then attached to the card base. I love how the foam offers a sturdy feel to the card front.

Here again the inside cannot be denied, it is trimmed with silver foil die cut borders from the Stitched Be Mine die cut set. Very simple and I think elegant.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit.
