Card Challenges

Copper Frame of Mind

Hey everyone, so glad you had a minute to share with me. Glad you are here.

Today I have for you a card created for the card challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch! CTS #122 / Sketch #333. This is a Retro card sketch challenge. Meaning they went way back into the vault and pulled out an oldie but goody.

I feel so lucky to be able to show you my creation today, I have been meeting teachers, back to school shopping, walking hallways to learn schedules, practicing locker combinations…… because my kids head back to school tomorrow. One is a Freshman in High School (Gulp!) and the other is heading off to Middle School to begin 6th grade. Both heading off to two different schools. Thankfully the young one follows in the older ones foot steps, so already familiar with the Middle School Building and teachers. The older one is off on a brand new adventure, creating a new chapter at a huge High School with 700+/- total freshman. I have been B-U-S-Y!

With this card I have a bit of sneak peek at some new sets that will be coming out in the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog, its only a teeny tiny peek, but it is gorgeous none the less. Warning: I have been bitten by the copper bug.

The card base is created from a half sheet of Cajun Craze Cardstock, cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ as a standard top folding card. From a brand new bundle that will be available in September, I have heat embossed in copper on vellum a leaf. The bundle is called Gather together featuring leaves and pumpkins, very much a fall collection of images and dies. This set also has some great sentiments, such as the one used here, which is also copper heat embossed on Very Vanilla card stock. The Copper foil leaf is also from the dies in this bundle.

The tiny little leaf peeking out from behind the copper foil leaf is a leaf cut from the Seasonal Layer Thinlits die set that coordinates with the Colorful Seasons Stamp set. This little guy has a little twin that is inside the card and has been antiqued with a new ink pad Stampin’ Up! will introduce in September. A Copper Ink Pad.

I did reorient my card to compliment the leaf arrangement on the front. Under the collection of leaves is a piece of 1/4″ Copper Trim, which I pulled apart to make wider, now it looks more like netting. I love the rustic look of this ribbon, I felt it went perfectly with this design. I toyed with the Burlap Ribbon but I didn’t think it worked with the Copper elements as well.

Inside the card to carry the leaves and copper theme through. I attached a copper foil strip along the bottom as well as attached a little leaf that has been “antiqued” with the soon to be released Copper Ink Pad.

Thanks so much for spending some time with me today, I do enjoy sharing my creations with you. If you would like to learn more about this challenge and see what other designers have created, or meet the Design Team behind this group, hop on over to CAS(E) this Sketch! For now I must leave you, hope you enjoyed this card, I will see you again real soon with something new. Until then keep crafting, exploring and creating.
