This post brings to you a card that was inspired by the color challenge PP463 at the Paper Players. This week my personal challenge is to create cards using the Country Home Stamp set from Stampin’ Up! If necessary, I have allowed myself to use another set that I feels coordinates for sentiments or background images. The color challenge at Paper Players is to use Tangelo Twist, Smoky Slate, Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black. Tangelo Twist and Elegant Eggplant were apparently around prior to my relationship with Stampin’ Up!, so I do not have those two colors in my stash. I had to improvise, Tangelo Twist appears to be somewhere between Calypso Coral and Pumpkin Pie so I went with Pumpkin Pie. Elegant Eggplant seems to be similar to Gorgeous Grape, so I went it.

This card begins with a half sheet of Basic Black cardstock as a card base, cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″, creating a standard side folding card.

On a sheet of water color paper I first splattered watered down Gorgeous Grape and Pumpkin Pie refill inks all over. While that was drying I stamped the milk can image in Archival Ink Watering Can and the Cotton/Flower arrangement image in Archival Ink Coffee. The milk can image is rendered with the Basic Black and Smoky Slate combo packs of Blends markers, then highlighted used a white gel pen. The Cotton/Floral arrangement is rendered with the Mossy Meadow combo pack of Blends markers on the leaves, Light Smoky Slate on the cotton, Pumpkin Pie combo pack of Blends Markers for the Pods and the Gorgeous Grape water color pencil and Gorgeous Grape Write Marker for the flower and berries. A tiny detail is added to the front of the milk can with a “plaque” that says “Enjoy” and is stamped in the New Silvery Shimmer Delicata Ink Pad. Now the fun really begins with fussy cutting the finished milk can image!

On Very Vanilla, I stamped the sentiment “Blessed” from the To a Wild Rose stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink then die cut with a stitched Oval. I die cut a larger stitched oval in Smoky Slate as a mat for the sentiment. The sentiment oval is adhered with liquid glue to the Smoky slate oval mat.

The time has come to get all the pieces pulled together and attached to the card front. Adhered with liquid glue to the back of, a cut to size, Smoky Slate mat is a piece of black fun foam to provide a very sturdy lift to the card front. While that dries, the fussy cut milk can is adhered with liquid adhesive to the watercolor paper that has now been cut to size. The Blessed sentiment is attached below with dimensionals. The finished front is adhered with liquid glue to the Smoky Slate mat and fun foam. The entire ensemble is attached to the Basic Black card front with more liquid adhesive.

The inside shall not be forgotten! The inside is lined with a piece of Very Vanilla with the large pumpkin image from the Gather Together stamp set stamped in Pumpkin Pie in the lower corner. Then to carry the outside in, the pumpkin – and surrounding area – is splattered with a touch of watered down Gorgeous Grape refill ink.

I absolutely love the idea of a challenge so I just had to go and make card challenges (which are already challenging enough) even more difficult by adding my own personal challenge twist. I am loving that choice. To work with one stamp set for any and all challenges/projects for one full week, has opened my eyes to so many new directions a set can be taken and then there is no choice but to be absolutely familiar with every image in that set and its range! I love it.
