This is the Christmas card I have designed to send to my friends and family this holiday season! It went through many many mock ups, this is where I landed. There is a lot of die cutting, coloring, water coloring, embossing and some stamping. 55 cards later, I am proud to present my Christmas Tidings Cardinal. I also did an insert in the envelope using the various Real Red Toile Tidings Designer Series patterns. this was truly a labor of love!

I won’t cover each and every thing that went into making this card, but I will touch on the high points, the supply list below should help fill in any questions that may come up. The card base is a half sheet of Very Vanilla cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ for a top folding card. The mats are from Gold Glitter Paper and the other is Very Vanilla die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper strip is cut with the Banner Triple punch. The bottom wreath is stamped in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and die cut with the coordinating die. I used paint pens in red and gold to highlight the berries. The top wreath is cut from watercolor paper (using the coordinating die) that was color washed with Garden Green ink, then splattered with some Golden Glitz Ink refill, White Gouache, Black and Red acrylic paint. The Cardinal is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo, Real Red Water color pencil and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker, then die cut with the coordinating die set.

The sentiment “Christmas Wishes” is gold embossed and cut with the coordinating die from the Toile Christmas Bundle.

I am not one to leave the inside with just a sentiment, so I used the baby wipe technique to create a homemade stamp pad combining the colors of Garden Green, Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Crumb Cake. The stamped image is from the Christmas Countdown Cling stamp set. The interior sentiment “May this season be filled with beautiful moments and happy memories for you and those you hold most dear.” is gold embossed and comes from the Toile Christmas Cling Stamp Set.

For the final flourish, the stamped bottom wreath and sentiment are further embellished with the Gold Metallic Pearls.

I hope you enjoyed learning about this card, it was a lot of parts and pieces but I truly enjoyed creating, and finally coming up with this end design. I love it. I knew from the moment I saw the Cardinal that bird was going to be featured in my Christmas Card, I so adore the real live bird as well as this entire Suite.
