Dynamic Holiday Duo for CAS(E) this Sketch!
Hey everyone, thanks so much for stopping by and taking a minute to visit with me!
Today, the Holiday Spirit is moving in and created a bit of a study in Opposites, Positive and Negative space, fraternal twins. Somewhere along those lines. Today is two for the price of one. These cards were created for a sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch! CTS #332 by Donna Mikasa.
Jumping right in, both card bases are from a half sheet of Whisper White Thick cardstock, cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″. A standard side folding card.
On a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ (a quarter sheet of cardstock), I stamped the tree line image from the Winter Woods stamp set in Crumb cake over and over, every other line is offset a bit, on one side of the paper. Then repeated the process on the same size sheet of Crumb Cake cardstock. Using another quarter sheet of Whisper White and Crumb Cake cardstock, I cut each piece down by 1″ to 3-1/4″ wide. Ran both pieces through the embossing machine with the Woodland Embossing Folder. Then I carefully cut 1″ in on the left side of each piece.
These pieces are then attached to tree line stamped cardstock, making sure the left edge of slender piece aligns with the left side of the base cardstock and the right edge of larger piece aligns with right edge of base cardstock. Creating the 1″ gap between the two embossed pieces on each card. The embossed pieces are attached to the stamped panel with Foam tape, the combo is then attached to the card base with liquid adhesive.
Keeping the die cut machine in use I then cut out 2 Spruce trees from the coordinating die set called In the Woods in Sparkle Glimmer Paper. This die will cut the pieces that can be “fluffed” to add dimension to the spruce. Sparkle Glimmer paper is a white iridescent glitter paper. I then took each spruce and colored it with the Stampin’ Blends Markers Old Olive and Mossy Meadow. I was stunned at how differently they turned out. I have done this technique before and it has always been the blue version, which I was after. But, they both turned out just fine. I decided to put the blue tree on the white card and the green tree on the crumb cake card – seemed appropriate.
To finish off the card, I die cut a couple of large stitched circles one in Whisper White and the other in Crumb cake. Using Versamark ink, I stamped and gold heat embossed a sentiment from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Beautiful Baubles. With mini-dimensionals I attached the tree to left side of the circle. The finished combo is attached to the card with liquid adhesive.
To carry the theme through to the inside I stamped a sprig of pine and a pine cone in the lower corner.
Thanks again for taking the time to spend a minute or two with me. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team or see other creations for this challenge, hop on over to CAS(E) this Sketch! It is time for me to head out, but I shall return with something new. Until then, keep crafting, exploring and creating. See you very soon.
