Free as a Bird and Shellie”s Paper Pumpkin Unite
Hello everyone, thanks so much for stopping by!
Today I have something a bit more than one card! I have 6 cards of essentially the same design just in different colors, 2 each of 3 colors to be exact. This is my answer to the Create a Set challenge from TGIF Challenges #tgifc214. Pop on over to their web site and take a look at what talented and creative minds can do.
Unfortunately, I was able to attach this challenge to a broken hearted friend. We always need Thank You cards, however we never seem to have them on hand….unless you are a paper crafter, card designer. I was already thinking about creating a set of Thank You cards for her to send out as she is ready to acknowledge the kindness and prayers she received from others at the passing of her husband to lung cancer. This was is 3rd round, he was just never able to rise above the effects of different drugs.
I thought she might enjoy a set of Thank You cards, as that would be one less thing she would have to worry about right now. This set is created with the Free as a Bird stamp set and the May Shelli’s Kit Paper Pumpkin. I took my color choices from the coordinating colors listed on the DSP and the Paper Pumpkin Kit.
First, I created my own Designer Series Paper on 8-1/2″x11″ Whisper White Card using the stamps from the May Shelli’s Kit Paper Pumpkin and Free as a Bird stamp set. I could have chosen any color scheme, but these soothing colors seemed to fit the need and my friends color preferences best. The “Folder” came from a video put out by Connie Stewart, everything she designs and creates is always Simply Simple Stamping, this is one of her Tuesday Tips. She too used a belly band, I dressed mine up a bit more. The Folder/Portfolio is created with Soft Suede Cardstock, I dressed that up further with a Crumb Cake layering mat and a Petal Pink layer that I ran through the Big Shot with the Basket Weave DIEF. I cut up my DSP, ran a scrap of Whisper White through the Big Shot using the Stitched Nesting Label Dies. I fussy cut the bird, leaves and individual flowers from Free as a Bird stamp set and attached to each label to finish off the Folder.
The Card base colors in the set are Crumb Cake, Petal Pink and Pool Party. I ran 6 Layering mats through the Big shot using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. I already had pieces of my own DSP cut up and ready to go for the front of each card. Each DSP piece is layered with a mat that matches the card color. Once the DSP and its mat were adhered I placed them in the lower left corner with Liquid adhesive to the Soft Suede Basket Weave mat. I then wrapped Linen Thread around the matt, then attached the finished unit to the front of the card base with liquid adhesive. Using another Stitched Nested Label Die I stamped Thank You from the May Shelli’s Kit May Paper Pumpkin. I attached the sentiment piece to the front of the card with dimensionals. Inside the card, I adhered a Whisper White piece of cardstock allowing plenty of room to say whatever needs to be said.
Thanks for stopping by today – I hope you enjoyed this set of cards and the folder that Connie Stewart helped to create. It truly was Simply Simple. If time is available please visit with the folks at TGIF Challenges. So many great designers and challenges.
