Global Animal Outing
Hey guys, thanks for taking a minute to visit with me, I love sharing with you!
Her is my creation for the Global Design Project sketch challenge #GSP202. It was inspired by the need for a birthday card for my nephew, using a super fun stamp set called Animal Outing and its coordinating dies Animal Friends. I love how fun this card turned out, it is somewhat interactive in that the Happy Birthday sentiment tag moves because it is attached with loose metallic brad. I’m told he loved the card, so in my book, it is a success!
I have a thing for giraffes, just love them. At our local zoo, the kids and I used to get big kicks out of feeding these crazy tall mammals with ridiculously long, skinny black tongues. I have another attraction to this super cute freakishly tall fellow, the giraffe is the mascot of my family! As I am quickly becoming the runt (at 5′-8″) of my household! My husband is 6′-9″, my 14 year old son is 6′-4″ and my daughter is about 5′-4″ and quickly gaining on me, with plenty of time to grow above and beyond me. So you see where I am going with this, right?
I sigh heavily, lets just get started, the card base is a half sheet of Crumb Cake Card stock, cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ creating a top fold card. All of the DSP used is retired, unfortunately, such cute patterns. At least the stamp set is still with us.
I used crushed curry as a mat and as the banner tag. The giraffe and frog on a branch images were stamped in crumb cake on pieces of Whisper White then colored with water color pencils. From scraps of Crumb Cake cardstock, Call Me Clover and the retired Lemon Lime Twist card stock, I used the coordinating dies to cut the branches of leaves the giraffe is enjoying for a meal. The tag attached with the metal brad is a retired set called Cute Crew Punch Box.
The Crushed Curry fishtailed banner is cut from the Banner Triple Punch, I then attached the giraffe with liquid glue. I attached the branches of leaves to the back of the Happy Birthday tag so when the tag is moved the branches move. I thought it was fun element, allowing the kids to feed the giraffe or not! I loved the little frog on a branch so he had to be attached on the card looking at the Happy Birthday tag. Subtle clue all point to the tag, when a frog is looking, you can’t help but look!
I repeated the use of the giraffe and branches inside the card, he is just to cute to use once.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this creation. It is time for me to sign off for now, but I shall return soon with something new. As always, keep crafting, exploring and creating. See you real soon.
