Global Design Project Challenge #GDP189 – Color Challenge
Hey everyone, thanks so much for taking some time to stop by.
Today I bring to you a card created for Global Design Project #GDP189. If you have a minute, take a little trip over to their blog and check out what so many creative designers are up to with this challenge.
I love love love challenges, mostly because they typically take me in a direction that isn’t the norm. The color challenges create another challenge for me with in themselves, a lot of times I do not have a color in the challenge in one form or fashion, so I have to figure out how to incorporate the lacking color. For this challenge, I did not have Pineapple Punch in cardstock or in a stamp pad, however, to the rescue came the Stampin’ Blends Combo of Pineapple Punch!
To start, I chose to use Crafting Forever stamp set. Once that decision was made, I thought sticking with the “crafty” theme was a great idea so I decided to use a Water color back ground. I created the background using Coastal Cabana Ink and Gorgeous Grape Ink on water color paper with Aqua Painters. Once that was created, dried, retouched and dried again, I decided to go with a Coastal Cabana mat below the watercolor piece. I attached the watercolor piece to the mat using tear n tape, which I feel is necessary to keep the water color paper flat. I find the water color paper can still warp a bit if attached with liquid glue. Once together, I placed that combo on top of a Whisper White Thick card base.
In Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Ink, I stamped the images from the Crafting Forever Stamp Set. I water colored the pot with Gorgeous Grape, used the Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends to color the paint brush handle. I used the Bronze Stampin’ Blend marker to shade in the brushes. I water colored the handle of the scissors in Coastal Cabana. Once everything was dry (assisted by the Heat gun) I fussy cut each image.
Now comes in the Big Shot, I used the Stitched Nested Labels Die to create the Coastal Cabana and Whisper White mats that are the background for the colored images. On the Whisper White mat I stamped a sentiment from Crafting Forever in Coastal Cabana. Then I attached the pot of paint brushes with liquid adhesive, then for dimension and interest I attached the scissors with dimensionals. I used liquid adhesive to attach the Whisper White mat to the Coastal Cabana mat. The finished focal piece is attached to the water color background with dimensionals to add a bit more interest.
For a little bit of bling, I went with the Basic Adhesive Backed sequins. I custom colored a few of the white sequins with my Pineapple Punch Stampin’ marker so that it worked with the card a bit better.
So glad you could spend a little time with me, I hope you enjoyed the card I created for the latest challenge #GDP189 at the Global Design Project.
