Card Challenges

Global Design Project #GDP190

Hey everyone, hope you are having a great weekend. So glad you took some time to stop by!

Today I have for you a card created with inspiration coming from the Global Design Project #GDP190. If there is time, pop on over to their website and check out what other super talented designers have come up with. So many creative minds out there.

The sketch of the week, is really pretty simple, but can be interpreted in so many different ways, it will leave you with your mouth wide open! I encourage you to visit Global Design Project and you will definitely see what I mean. Your imagination is your only limitation.

For this creation., I went with a “naturescape” – this seems to be my go to most recently. Once I figured out the scheme and theme, I decided to start with an Old Olive Cardstock card base. From there I had to figure out what to do with the parts and pieces I wanted to include on the card. It was without question that this tree from the Rooted In Nature stamp set was to be included in this card. This is one of those moments when you start working in a haze of ideas – out of this haze came this tree stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive (combining the colors adds more depth to the tree) and Soft Suede for the trunk. I used the coordinating dies on the Big Shot to cut out the tree. When I finally emerged from the creativity haze – I had a tree resting (with dimensionals) on Burlap Ribbon adhered to a piece of Petal Pink Cardstock. The Petal Pink mat is die cut on the Big Shot with the Stitched Nested Dies, then I added some texture to the matt with the Subtle embossing folder (be advised…this second pressing will over rule what was created with the first run – the stitching detail was mostly lost). The Sentiment came from the Rooted in Nature stamp set and was stamped in Tuxedo Black on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, then quickly heat embossed with clear powder.

To the face of the card base I attached a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock and a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Bird Ballad Collection. This collection is so sweet and nature oriented with Flowering Branches, Birds, Feathers, dots, stripes – Just a beautiful collection of prints.

I attached the finished decorative panel with dimensionals to the matted face of the card. For a subtle bit of interest, I attached some pearls of various sizes in several spots.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this card sparked by inspiration from the Global Design Project. If time permits, it would be great to pop on over to their site and see what so many other creative folks have come up with. Have a great day, safe holiday weekend, and I will be back with more soon!
