Good Man Festive Friday Challenge #FF0035

Hey everyone, thanks so much for stopping by, glad you are here.

Today I have a card created for the folks at Festive Friday with Challenge #FF0035. They are looking for Father Day cards or Blue Cards or all of that put together into one stunning card.

Well, I created a card that covers all of the items. It is a card that brings back so many very special memories to this little girl who is originally from Louisville Kentucky. For those unaware of a yearly tradition for the city as well as the state, Louisville Kentucky is the home of the Kentucky Derby held at the historic Churchill Downs – the fastest 2 minutes in Sports. What is the Kentucky Derby you may ask…it is the first jewel in the Triple Crown. The most coveted trophy in the world of Thoroughbred Horsing Racing! The city if not the state just about shuts down for the entire week before the running of the Kentucky Derby. There are Parades, Steamboat races on the Ohio River, Hot Air Balloon races, Chow Wagons located around the city – loaded with the number one seller Kentucky Burgoo, but other items as well. So much fun is had by all ages when it is Derby time.

This card warms my heart with the memory of watching the Hot Air Balloon Races every year, which most of the time, the path of travel conveniently went right over our house. We would stand, sit or snuggle outside till the very last balloon drifted by. Then waited to hear on the news who the winner was. Never really mattered it was just fun to remember the balloon and whether that was one of the pilots that waved back to us or not.

Special memories bring this card together with the assistance of the Above the Clouds stamps set and a Good Man stamp set. For my family, this is the perfect combination and I was so happy it came together for me.

I used a Whisper White Thick card base, then attached a Night of Navy mat to the front. On another piece of whisper white card, I sponged in the sky and clouds with stencils and Seaside Spray. I sponged the grass in with Old olive and just faded both into the white horizon line. Black seems rather harsh for me at times, so I chose to stamp everything in the softer Basic Gray. I colored the balloons, the father and daughter with various Stampin’ Blend Markers.

The sentiment is from A Good Man Stamp set, I stamped it in Old Navy on a piece of Whisper White card. I then cut it out with a stitched oval die and attached to the front of the card with dimensionals.

This card brought back so many memories, I am so glad it was able to come together so nicely on paper.

Thanks again for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the glimpse into my younger days and the card those memories evoked. Ah to be a kid again.
