Card Challenges

Happy Birthday Baby

Hey everyone thanks so much for taking a minute to stop by.

Today I have for you a card created for Inspire.Create.Challenges. It is a Theme challenge and the topic is Birthday. Challenge #048 This card is the card technique created and a true birthday inspired. A trifold card with a peek a boo window and a shaker all in one. Then a fun technique that I think is pretty fun….coloring glimmer paper.

This challenge came along at a pretty good time. I am in dire need of a birthday card for my daughter. She has a birthday on coming in 2 days (but who is counting….certainly not me). Getting to be such a big girl, actually begins Middle school in 5 days! As if this wasn’t enough, my son begins High School in 5 days. What ever you may think, I can assure you that high anxiety has not been on the daily menu…..yea right! Father Time and I need to have a serious discussion about how time flies.

This card is totally inspired by my daughter, which lets remember….is all things sparkles, rainbows and unicorns! Yesterday her favorite color was pink, today it is aqua, tomorrow who knows. I have taken a trip through all the entries and I can assure you there is not a card nearly as crazy as this one. This is the card that technique created and birthday inspired.

Quite a few of the products used on this card are retired Stampin’ Up! products. That said they are also the most representative of my child!

She is a huge cupcake fan with tons of icing. Not just icing but sparkly icing. Using the Sparkle Glitter Paper, I used some pigment sprinkles to color the paper and give the color combo effect to the icing. I used the coordinating dies for the cupcake icing to die cut the mound of icing image a couple of times. After that, I took each mound of icing and detailed a bit more with the Stampin’ Blends Markers.

The Happy Birthday sentiment on the front, as well as the confetti die cut, are also retired. Using the Happy Birthday die, I used the die cutting machine to cut the sentiment 3 times in Basic Black, then once in Rose Glimmer paper. Glued all the black layers on top of each other, then attached the Rose Glitter Paper layer is the top layer.

The most exciting feature of this card is it is a Tri-fold card. When the top flap is opened, a window is exposed with a view to the piece de resistance – the shaker card. How much fun is a shaker card for a birthday card?

The tiny candles inside the shaker card were cut using a die from Call Me Cupcake from the previously created Sparkle Glimmer Paper colored with the pigment sprinkles. In many cases, less is more, however in the world of glitter and this household, more is better!

Thanks again for stopping by, so glad to have you here, hope you enjoyed the card. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team members that created it, or to see what others came up with to answer the theme, hop on over to Inspire.Create.Challenges.
