Can you believe that we have made it to September, there is a light at the end of the very long and very dark tunnel! This week our Design Team Member Yoon-Young has created a color challenge for you if you choose to accept. We would love to see what you come up with using Old Olive, Gray Granite and Mossy Meadow.
We do use Stampin’ Up! color names, but for reference only. You are most welcome to use whatever product is in your stash that matches the challenge colors as closely as possible.
These colors absolutely stumped me at first, but here is what I came up with.
We have a Whisper White Thick standard side opening card base. On another sheet of Whisper White I used the Stamparatus to double stamp the Holly sprig outline image from Joyful Holly, twice for a dark solid crisp line in Mossy Meadow. Still using the Stamparatus, I lined up the leaf filler image with the stamped leaves and filled them in with Old Olive. Since this is a color challenge and I can’t use any other color that isn’t a neutral (meaning I can’t use red)….the holly is now mistletoe! I used Gray Granite Light Stampin’ Blends to add a bit of shadow under the holly leaves. These Holly sprigs are so beautiful, I think they are perfect as a single focal image. The Gray Granite greeting “Hello” comes from the Forever Fern Stamp set.
I used a Stitched Rectangle die to frame the “Mistletoe” image. As gorgeous as the “Mistletoe” sprigs are, I thought a little extra pizzazz was needed to help the berries pop a bit more, I used the Frosted Epoxy Droplets, then the final flourish of an Old Olive bow. The finished panel is attached to a Gray Granite DSP from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack and a slightly larger mat of Mossy Meadow. The finished panel is attache to the Whisper White card base with glue.
Inside the card, I simply stamped a portion of the “Mistletoe” sprig in Mossy Meadow one time then colored the leaves with an Old Olive water color pencil, to keep the look a bit softer. I used Wink of Stella for the berries.
