I had to visit with Home to Roost for this sketch challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping by, so glad you could visit for a bit.
Today I have for you a creation for CAS(E) this Sketch! CTS #324. Pop on over and check out what other incredibly talented designer were able to come up with, it is definitely worth the click!
This sketch some how put a feeling of country into my head. It is just best if you don’t ask! At first I was going to go with cowboy boots, guitars, a pickup truck and some music. The images I had available to work with for that mindset were just to big and thusly to busy. Then there it was, calling to me, the ROOSTER. I LOVE THE ROOSTER! Since these images were considerably smaller, there was no doubt, I could make this set work for this challenge. With a little help from his fluttery friends.
So lets get to it, for this card I stayed pretty simple since the sketch, in my mind, can be interpreted to be quite busy. I stamped the images from the stamp set in Crumb Cake (my most favorite neutral!) Crumb cake has the ability to find its way into just about everything I do and it always brings its friend Old Olive. In Crumb cake I stamped the Rooster and stamped 2 generations of the wheat. Those 2 images represent the short and tall vertical elements. I colored the rooster using various water color pencils.
I used the grass image from Enjoy Life as the horizontal element, it is stamped in……Old Olive, 1st and 2nd generation.
The Butterflies are from a Stampin’ Up! die set….. I cannot remember which one. I use those tiny guys so often, I wound up cutting a ton of them when I was using the die long ago. Unfortunately, my time is up, I have run out of these guys and must figure out from where they came.
The Sentiment is from the Home to Roost stamp set, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Versamark ink. I covered in it in clear embossing powder and set it to the heat. I added the distress look around the strip with crumb cake and a sponge dauber.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed the card! Try to pop on over to CAS(E) this Sketch if you get a moment. I will be back again soon and I hope to see you then.
