Card Challenges

Inspire. Create with To a Wild Rose

Hey everyone, thanks for taking a minute to visit with me! I do appreciate it.

This time around, I have created a card for the Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenges, color challenge #049. This challenge requires the use of Basic Gray, Mango Melody and Pool Party.

At first glance, I wasn’t at all attracted to the colors in this challenge. I am not a big fan of Pool Party myself, but Basic Gray and Mango Melody I can work with. So I challenged myself to incorporate Pool Party and like it! The design I actually do like, quite a bit…shockingly!

This card begins with a half sheet of Basic Gray cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ for a standard side folding card. Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, I created a mat in Pool party. The rest is just a bunch of generational stamping to achieve the various levels of depth withint the flower petals and leave. The DSP is my own creation using the same stamped off – 2nd generation – color of Mango Melody. The same applies with the leaves, they are all 2nd generation pool party. The main floral image is outlined in full strength Mango Melody, the fill is stamped off Mango Melody and the shading is also stamped off, however since it is layered over the fill it comes across darker. The leaves are stamped in Pool party in the same manner. The outline is full strength while the leaf fill is stamped off Pool Party.

Using the coordinating dies, I cut the focal flower image and leaves as well as the additional leaves from Pool Party Card Stock. The sentiment “Happy Day!” comes from the Friend Like You stamp set and is stamped in Basic Gray on a piece of Whisper White cut with the Stitched Nested Label Dies

The focal flower and leaves are glued together with liquid adhesive and attached to the self created DSP with dimensionals. The sentiment is tucked under the flower and adhered with liquid adhesive. The finished panel is attached to the Pool Party mat with liquid adhesive. The combined panel is then attached to craft foam and then attached to the Basic Gray card base with liquid adhesive.

Not to forget the inside, I adhered a piece of Whisper White cut to size with liquid adhesive. I used a left over strip of Pool Party and an additional leaf die cut. Had to pull some color inside.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this card. In the end despite my color preferences, I did like this card quite a bit. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team behind these challenges or to see what other creative, talented folks have come up with – head on over to Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenges. It is now time for me to head out, as always, I will return soon with something new. Until then, keep crafting, exploring and creating.
