Card Challenges

Just Breathe

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I have created this card for the weekly TGIF Challenge #TGIFC206
Using Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green.

This card was inspired by Challenge #TGIFC206 on the TGIF Challenges blog. The colors whisked me away to a breezy, peaceful, watery retreat. Not necessarily the beach/ocean, a lake or pond setting can be just as peaceful! There is a large pond near our house, my kids and I used to visit it frequently in their preschool/elementary school years. They nicknamed it the duck pond. Appropriately so as there are ducks of all sorts, several Canadian Geese and Swans. Many people walk around the pond for exercise, feed the ducks and turtles or simply sit and watch, while enjoying the breezes and trying to just breathe.

I used several different techniques to re-create the serene setting. I started with a piece of watercolor paper, then I sponged the light filled sky with Mango Melody within a circle stencil. For the water, I used Bermuda Bay with the watercolor technique. To create a different texture/feel for the grass, I first applied Granny Apple Green to a larger clear block, spritzed the block with a few pumps of water, then applied it to the paper, wiggling and pulling the block off the paper. Then I stamped blades of glass in Granny Apple Green along the water/grass line

Then I stamped the branch off the paper to help create the feel of breezy beautiful days. If your going to sit and enjoy the breezy days, you need a place to sit. I die cut this bench from Crumb Cake Card stock, did a little “antiquing” to it by lightly water coloring over it with Cajun Craze.

Thank you. It’s funny how a challenge just strikes a chord, it either works or doesnt.
