Paper Craft Crew CASE the Design Team Challenge
Hey everyone, welcome back, so glad you had time for a little visit!
Today I have a creation for another card challenge for Paper Craft Crew Challenge #344 #casethedesignteam. This is a challenge to CASE a card that one of the Design Team members has posted on their blog. So, to say the least, there was some serious research needed to accomplish this challenge. But, it was fun research. The acronym CASE has at least two meanings I have found. The first is, Copy And Share with Everyone. The second is, Copy And Selectively Edit. I have gone with the 2nd definition.
After stalking many a design team member, I chose to CASE a card by Tanya Bell that she created for another card challenge (that looks pretty fun challenge site) called Colour Inkspiration Challenge. The challenge Tanya was working with is a color challenge where Pretty Peacock, Blueberry Bushel, Terracotta Tile and Petal Pink were to be incorporated into the design. I have Tanya’s gorgeous card pictured below so you can see my jumping off point.
My card turned out a little more subtle, not exactly where I was thinking I was going, though I like how it turned out. Tanya’s is far more stunning. I like to think I can think out side the box – I love angles, very little of the furniture in my home is parallel to a wall, I just can do angles on cards. I am not sure what my hang up is, but it is a serious hang up!. Change #1 my frame is parallel with the edges of the card!
I created a very similar background to Tanya’s, except I used all 4 of the challenge colors, as it turns out the Pretty Peacock is the “grass” in the blended background and is pretty well covered. Can’t see it at all in the picture, however, in real life there is a smidge just above the wildflower line. Change #2, I love/adore/want that tree in my backyard. The wildflowers get very little attention and I wanted to give them a little love. So I die cut them in Blueberry Buschel and Pretty Peacock.
The Terracotta tile and Petal Pink REALLY blend well together, so the line is very faint, which can be good or bad. I think they can be somewhat realized but stare very hard. The close up shot shows it the best.
Change #3 the embossed background. I had no control over that one, as I do not have the the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder! Therefore, I kept the outdoor theme by using the Woodland Embossing Folder. I toyed with Layered Leaves Embossing Folders but the stoic presence of the trees won out. Which led me to realize Change #4 – Tanya’s card has a horizontal feel to me, the trees left my card feeling vertical. How is that for over analyzing?
I also went with a Petal Pink frame. The Sentiment is from the Friend Like You stamp set, which coordinates with the Friendly Silhouette Dies. I stamped the sentiment in Terracotta Tile, cut out with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die then I “distressed” the edges with Terracotta Tile. Submerged might be a better term, my pad is very juicy! I also went with the Pretty Peacock Linen Ribbon as the background to the sentiment.
I researched the challenge her card was created for and they said metallic’s were allowed, and since I have been severely bitten by the copper bug – I had to use a copper brad from the Metallic Brads collection. Copper works extremely well with Terracotta Tile. I also accessorized further with my favorite butterflies from the Butterfly Beauty Dies. With wildflowers, butterflies must definitely follow.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the card, I loved creating it. It is significantly more subtle, I loved Tanya’s for the bright vivid use of the colors. Mine just didn’t go that way. If you would like to learn more about the Paper Craft Crew, the design team members and Tanya Bell, hop on over, they would love it. I shall return with more very soon, until then keep crafting, exploring and creating. See you soon.
