Card Challenges

Perennial Essence Suite. CAS(E) this Sketch – CTS#322

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by!

Today I have for your a card I created for the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch. Such a great group, if the opportunity presents itself, try to hop over and take a look at their blog. Great designers, great designs, such great things to see and learn from.

I only have a couple more days of freedom and flexibility. I’m trying to get everything organized and ready for a schedule change. My kids get out of school this week for the summer. I love having the kids home, however, there is nothing lazy about our summer days. I have a basketball player and a year round swimmer, 2 a days are the name of the game around here. Wet bathing suits, towels, sweaty clothes and jerseys, pools, sunscreen, gyms and…. laundry, are my life during the summer. So while enjoying my last couple of days of peace and quiet, I am getting as much done as I can – I hope you enjoy this creation.

For this card I started with a Whisper White Thick card base. From there I took what I thought would be a simple route. I new what I wanted the center portion to be, but how to build on it? I love the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I went with, it is so beautiful, like a painting by Monet or Renoir – French Impressionist Period. It probably could have handle the space all on its own once I matted it with Old Olive and Petal Pink. Hmmmmmm…….

Though the DSP could stand on its own, I really wanted to add to it – so I did. From the Floral Essence stamp set, I stamped several of the the flowers till I came up with a color combo that I liked with the DSP. I finally landed on Petal Pink for the flower color, stamped on Petal Pink Cardstock and Whisper White Cardstock. I used Old Olive ink and paper as well as Mossy Meadow ink and paper for the leaves. The flowers I punched out with the Perennial Flower Punch. Each flower is made up of 2 stamps punched out and glued together. I punched the leaves out with the Leaf Punch. Glued everything together and there it was, the flower string I had to use. The sentiment came from another stamp set called Rooted in Nature. I simply stamped the sentiment in Old Olive on a strip of Whisper White Card, and adhered the strip with dimensionals for the dimension alone. The DSP has such a presence that I didn’t feel any further embellishments were needed – so no bling! Maybe the centers of the flowers could have used something, but I didn’t want to distract to much more from the star of the show.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the design I came up with for this challenge. If time allows, pop on over to CAS(E) this Sketch and see what they have going on.

I will see you again real soon with another card! Have a great day!
