Card Challenges

Pop of Petals

Hello all, so glad you could visit for a bit, thanks for stopping by!

Today I have a card created with 3 different challenges in mind. It is really tough to combine challenges, I am noticing. Each challenge has a certain set of parameters they prefer. It is really hard to come up with a card that recognizes each groups thoughts. That is what makes it so fun, yet trying, to create one card for 2 or more challenges. The thrill of the pursuit. For this card there are 2 sketch challenges and a color challenge to work with. I am using the color challenge from CAS Colours & Sketches, Challenge #326 – using Calypso Coral, Gorgeous Grape, and Mossy Meadow. Global Design Project #GDP194 – a sketch challenge and Freshly Made Sketches #FMS393 – a sketch challenge.

Moving onward to the card creation I have today

I hope everyone can see what I was trying to go for. In my head the 2 sketch challenges were fairly similar and could be morphed together, then with the guidance of the color challenge, this is what I came up with.

The card base is a Whisper White thick, top fold, standard size card. The mat layer incorporates the first color of the color challenge and is Mossy Meadow which I ran through the die cutting machine using the Layer Leaves DTIEF. I love, love, love, embossing folders, they can dress up a card so quickly and easily. The focal strip of the card was created using a Whisper White mat, with liquid adhesive I attached a strip of DSP from the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper pack that also has a Mossy Meadow background. On pieces of scrap paper of Gorgeous Grape and Calypso Coral, I stamped 2 of the images from the Pop Of Petals stamp set using the matching ink pad. I then cut them out using the coordinating 4 Petal Flower Punch. I layered the 2 images of each color together with liquid adhesive, curled the Gorgeous Grape flower petal for a bit more dimension and interest, then attached to all the flowers to the strip. I then attached the strip to the Mossy Meadow mat with liquid adhesive. Then I wrapped a 6″ strip of Calypso Coral ribbon around the finished mat to soften the seams of the white edges, and adhered the ends to the back of the mat with double sided tape. Since the Mossy Meadow finished panel has so much texture due to the embossing, I attached it to the card front with liquid adhesive.

For a little extra bling and to add more interest to the flowers I used the Frosted Epoxy Droplets for the flower centers.

I am so glad you were able to spend a little time with me, thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed trying to figure out how to combine these challenges. Hope the gamble worked! If there is a spare minute, don’t forget to hop over to these challenge hosts CAS Colours & Sketches, Global Design Project #GDP194, and Freshly Made Sketches to check out what others have created to meet the challenge and to learn more. Thanks for stopping by and I will be back very soon!
