For this card I chose to go with a beach scene. Doesn’t get more summery than that – pretend it is the Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day; there is the patriotic, our relaxing gentleman is simply waiting for the fireworks at the beach to begin!
I love to use our new Sailing Home Stamp Set and High Tide Stamp set together. When they are combined there are so many directions the beach scene can go. On top of using these two sets together, I needed the show in what the beach is best utilized – other than sunburn pain. RELAXATION – thus the new A Good Man stamp set.
Aside from HATING the sand, I love the beach for the breeze, the beauty and sound of the crashing waves, and the chirping of the birds. It puts me to sleep every time.
I went with a fairly masculine theme since I was deep into designing Fathers Day cards as well. To start I chose to go with a Whisper White Thick Card base, matted with So Saffron cardstock. On a 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White I started using sponge daubers to blend the sky. The top portion is a combination of Balmy Blue and Seaside Spray that fades to white. Then along the water line and sun set I punch out a 1″ mask to represent the sun. I used sponge daubers over and around the mask blending Petal Pink, Mango Melody and So Saffron into white. The sailboats are from the Lily Pad Lake stamp set. Most everything is stamped in Smokey Gray to give a softer washed out look, except for our fellow in the foreground.
Back to the boats, I masked the boats to stamp the ocean waves from the High Tide Stamp Set in Balmy Blue and Pool Party. In the foreground I stamped our relaxing gentleman from the A Good Man stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then masked him off. The lighthouse and sand texture are from the High Tide stamp set and are stamped in Smokey Gray and Cherry Cobbler and Crumb cake. The sentiment came from A Good Man stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and trimmed it down, I matted it with a slightly larger trimmed down piece of So Saffron card stock and attached with dimensionals. To further embellish the card and the sparkle of the beach, I added sparkle to the waves and the sand with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, and a few Adhesive Backed Basic sequins in white.
