I am absolutely in love with this card! First off, I love the look, colors and smell of lavender. So much so that I have anything and everything connected to it. Lavender shower gel and lotion, essential oil for my laundry, diffusers, candles, etc. So it is a natural progression that I had to have the Lavender Suite. I personally don’t do much with patterned paper unless I can connect with the majority of the patterns in the pack, this set is a success with me – purple is always welcome, I adore the natural rustic feel of crumb cake – this entire suite has won me over. For this card, I had the overwhelming need to add in the Simply Zinnia bundle – for an additional touch of color. It feels more like a flower garden with that addition which also works perfectly for a birthday card. The Crumb cake gingham patterned paper works so well for the background – and I simply love the pattern. The colors are what makes me the happiest with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape for the lavender. Berry Burst, Lofty Lemon, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape cardstock for the Zinnia. The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Old Olive cardstock. The flowers and leaves are cut with the coordinating Simply Zinnia die set. The sentiment is from the Notes of Nature stamp set, stamped in Crumb Cake on Basic White cardstock and die cut with the Tailor Made Tags die set. The final touches of the Natural Wavy Trim – which is hands down my favorite ribbon/trim of all, and a dash of purple and sparkle on the tag with the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems (another piece to the Painted Lavender Suite.)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN – To all those who partake in the festivities of the day. This is one of those cards that you dream up, it is achievable, but seems to just pull you in deeper and deeper, taking on a life of its own – I believe that falls in the realm of Overthinking? First, I stamped, embossed and die cut all the images I was going to use from 2 Stamp sets. The first is Cottage Wreaths and coordinating dies in the Country Wreath Die set – the spiders and wreath. The spiders were heat embossed in black on Pebbled Path card, and the Wreath was heat embossed in White on Pebbled Path card. From the Tricks & Treats bundle I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Basic White card the face of Dracula, used the filler stamp with Smoky Slate ink to fill in his face. Then I black heat embossed his well greased, slick back hair. I added some festive pearls in red to the spiders (Black Widows) and under Dracula’s mouth to represent blood drops. I die cut the ghost from Basic White card. The sentiments “Boo”, “Eek”, and “Trick or Treat” are white heat embossed on Blackberry Bliss card and die cut with the coordinating die. Know everything has to come together…..originally the door was just a piece of card cut to size, that wasn’t interesting enough, here we go diving further into the land of over thinking. Doors have to have panels, they just do – so now out comes the exacto knife, black foam and more black cardstock – ah now a door with dimension. Which means the door frame has to have dimension…..more foam – that became way more elaborate and time consuming than I had intended. In the end I like it, it just took to dog gone long! I use glue and black dimensionals to attach everything to the door. The card base is Blackberry Bliss Cardstock lined with a Deckled Rectangles piece of Pebbled Path cardstock, of course decorated with more black widow spiders. On the front of the card base, I tore the edges off of Pebbled Path cardstock for its roughness and to indicate the wall of the house behind the door. Glued that to the card base and then attached the door frame to the card front.
