Sweet Story Book Paper Craft Crew Challenge #PPC334

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by today. Here comes a color challenge from Paper Craft Crew. Challenge #PPC334 asks the designer to use 3 colors of the 4 that are given. A mystery color, Poppy Parade, Lemon Lime Twist and Coastal Cabana. I chose to go with the Mystery color combining Mango Melody with Poppy Parade and Lemon Lime Twist. I think this turned out to be such a fun card.

I’m not sure how these challenges get these ideas in my head but when I am presented with a challenge the ideas just pop up. I have to look through my stash, then a kaleidoscope starts swirling around in my mind and all of a sudden the idea is there! It is crazy town. I love doing challenges because it dares your creativity to potentially go outside the box and explore new avenues. I love it, somehow I am able to respond with something and a lot of times it has caused me to leave my comfort zone.

For this card I chose to do a water color background, using the ink refills for Mango Melody, Lemon Lime Twist and Poppy Parade. I love that combination. Those colors together somehow brought me to the mushroom in the Sweet Storybook Stamp set. This is a favorite of mine, so sorry to see it retire, but it can still come out to play, it is retiring but not disappearing from my stash. After the water colors dried I cut the piece into 3 separate panels, elevated on fun foam for sturdiness and attached to a whisper white card mat. Once attached I moved on to the Sweet Storybook stamp set and coordinating dies. On some Whisper White Cardstock I stamped the mushroom with Gray Granite and Poppy Parade. I stamped the mice in Smoky Slate and Gray Granite. I then shaded the mushroom with Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends and color the bellies of the mice with Dark Petal Pink. Turned to the Big Shot to cut out the mice and a Stitched Oval Die, I fussy cut the mushroom. Attached these newly completed cuteness to the Oval Stitched Die with dimensional and liquid glue, then attached that panel to the larger cut up water color panel. I stamped the sentiment from Sweet Storybook in Memento Tuxedo Black and VersaMark. Then embossed the sentiment with Clear Embossing Powder.

I love the way this card turned out, I brainstorm as I go. So while the idea comes to me in a fuzzy manner, as I start combining this and that the direction comes more clear. Stop by Paper Craft Crew and check out their next challenge, something new every time and keeps your mind fresh and keeps you from falling into a rut.
