Hello all! This week at CAS Colours & Sketches, our hostess Cécile has created our second color challenge for this month of November. A very beautiful, nature inspired color combination. We can’t wait to see where you imagination goes. Please consider posting your card creation using this color scheme to our challenge gallery.

I loved the color combination Cécile created for us this week – it is gorgeous! With the current season in mind, and the fact that my yard is loaded with them at the moment – my head went to acorns. Early Espresso would work for that. What to pair the acorns with….leaves, any nature scene, what? The first stamp set I came across in my collection, with an acorn was the Cottage Wreaths stamp set. To keep it nice and easy I used this stamp set, its coordinating die set Country Wreaths dies and a bit of Glitter Old Olive washi tape, I have a quick and easy card.

I start with a standard side folding card base in Early Espresso cardstock. The wreath is stamped in Soft Succulent ink on some scrap Basic White cardstock, and cut with the coordinating die. The sentiment “grateful” on the basic white tag is stamped in Old Olive and the acorns are stamped in 1st and 2nd generation Early Espresso stamping and cut with the coordinating die. I really wanted to add another layer to the finished card front – using a strip of patterned paper or something more to anchor the wreath better, trying to emulate the wall or door the wreath is hanging on, but in CAS style, I opted out. I will have to make this card again Inside the card is lined with a quarter piece of Basic White cardstock, decorated with some more Glitter Old Olive Washi tape, sprig images stamped in 1st and 2nd generation Soft Succulent and again some acorns in 1st and 2nd generation Early espresso.

Late addition: Here are the cards I created with the ideas swirling in my head I mentioned above! I think my favorite is the one with the Early Espresso card base.

What a stunning CAS design, Shannon! I love that you used the “early espresso” color for the card base, this is so classy!

I love the original way you used the challenge colors, Shannon! The dark brown background looks so elegant against the other colors, and the whole card reminds me of a door with a wreath hanging on it – so clever.
