Card Challenges

Ornate Flower Garden

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

This card was inspired by a sketch challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. As a Design Team member, no matter how much I love this card, I could not put it up as an inspiration piece for 2 reasons. Not a lot of “white” space, though fun to create, by definition it is not simple. I deemed it unworthy for clean and simple and created another card that follows this concept, however far fewer parts and pieces. I will link it below so you can check that one out as well. I am thrilled with both cards, but I adore this one. So much fun to create, so many techniques – shabby chic! I just had to get this one out of my head before I could go clean and simple. I just adore this one.

For reference, this is the sketch I was working with from CAS Colours & Sketches. The skewed rectangle, screamed out tag to me, so I had to go with it. The card on the bottom is what I posted for the challenge.

Hope you like this card, it was so much fun to make! A little bit of stamping, stamp masking, coloring with Stampin’ Blends, stenciling with Pattern Party Decorative Masks, blending using blending brushes using Blueberry Bushel and Old Olive, edging with Crumb Cake ink and a dauber, black splatter from a paint pen, punches, a butterfly die, Specialty Designer Series Paper, embossing and a piece of ribbon pull everything together into a super cute card. Did I mention I love it?

I used a Crumb Cake card base, attached a pattern from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series paper pack along with a strip of Terracotta Tile Card Stock. I used a die from my stash to create the tag on Whisper White Card. Using masking, I stamped a the floral images from the Ornate Style Cling Stamp set. I masked those images, using a blending brush, I blended Blueberry Bushel and Old Olive from the side to the middle as a grounding for the floral images. Then with a stencil from the mask collection, used a dauber to fill in with Crumb Cake Ink pad. Then I splattered the background with a black paint pen. I colored the floral images with the Watercolor pencils in Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin pie, Old Olive and Garden Green. The edges of the tag are inked in Crumb cake The daisy is created by using the Medium Daisy Punch in Daffodil delight and Terracotta tile. I create multiples of various things, I know I will use frequently. These daisies are high on the list. Old Olive cardstock and the leaf punch make the leaves. I mount the finished tag on a slightly larger piece of Crumb Cake cardstock cut to match the shape and inked with Crumb Cake Ink. Finishing touch is the Burlap Ribbon Tag topper, simply stapled in place.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item. I will return soon with something new. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and without doubt, keep on crafting, exploring and creating.
