It is Tuesday yet again, and with today comes the last sketch challenge for July at the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge Blog. Anyone else in awe that it is already the final week of July? Crazy! I believe it is all the craziness and uncertainty that has made this year fly by….oddly enough. Every week the design team creates something to help inspire you with the challenge of the week. Here is what I came up with to answer this sketch. Hope you are inspired to come join us this week.
This card came together so quickly for me, I was fairly stunned. It is crazy how an idea pops into your mind. Then there are 3 avenues that one idea can lead you down, all on its own. Ave. A is easy street, it comes together no issue. Ave B. leads you down the bumpiest of alley’s. Ave C – that one is the roughest road of all and leaves you with a flat tire in a pot hole! Thankfully this went down Ave A. My husband is a lover of games, everything portrayed in this stamp set is absolutely in his wheelhouse. Therefore I chose to make this a masculine card.
The chess pieces are white heat embossed on Basic Black card then die cut with a Stitched Shapes Oval Die. On a strip of Basic Black scrap I stamped the game board pattern with Whisper White Pigment ink. The Greeting “Hope Your Day is All Fun & Games is also white heat embossed the cut with narrowest width using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. To pull all this together I used the largest Rectangular Stitched Die to cut the Crumb Cake mat for the front and the mat for the inside liner. Everything is adhered with liquid glue. To soften the abrupt edge of the Black cardstock, I used Gold Glimmer Ribbon on the top and bottom edge. The chess piece focal image is popped up on dimensionals. For the inside I used a smaller Stitched Rectangle Die to cut a smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock, stamped the game board image in Tuxedo Black ink.
