A Lovely Little Card
Hey there everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by and spending a minute or two with me. I do appreciate it, let me show you what I have going on.
I have created a card for the sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps #SSC210. I am showing a little bit of love to a carry over stamp set that was released In the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog called Forever Lovely. Not sure what it was about this sketch but that set jumped in my mind right away. This card is truly a mix of old and new to create something unique (I’d like to think), even if it is following a sketch.
This card begins with an Old Olive card stock base cut to 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″ to create a top folding card. I went with a Night of Navy mat to pull out the darker undertones of the leaf pattern in the See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper (DSP) I chose to go with. In my world the leaf pattern is a bit busy, but I wanted to play with patterned papers. So I selected a Night of Navy pattern from the 6″ x 6″ Regals DSP, to further bring down the boldness of the leaf pattern and work with those navy undertones.
On some Whisper White Card stock I stamped several rose images from the DistINKtive Forever Lovey Photopolymer stamp set. It is so much easier to me to use the sponge daubers on the DistINKtive line of stamps. Less color is applied this way, juicy pads can’t create any issues, and its a perfect way to add depth/dimension to whatever the image is, in this case the rose. I dabbed on Daffodil Delight and in the center is a touch of Mango Melody. The leaves are stamped in Olive Olive and Mango Melody. In comes the coordinating Lovely Flowers Dies. In the die set is also the leaf sprigs that I cut out using Old Olive card stock. I worked through several arrangement with these images and several others that I also cut, finally landed on this arrangement of three roses with several leaves a few sprigs.
I photographed the final arrangement, then using the photograph I glued the images together. Also from Whisper White I cut the mounting mat using the Stitched Nested Label Dies. In the lower corner of this piece I stamped the sentiment “a little hello” from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Old Olive. The floral collage is attached to this mat with dimensionals, then with Liquid glue I attached the finished ensemble to the card.
No to forget the inside, I ran a strip of the Navy checked 6″ x 6″ Regal DSP along the bottom and then capped it off with another die cut rose image.
Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you enjoyed this creation of mine. Its a bit out of the box as far as pattern goes, but I truly love the way it turned out. I am a big fan of this color combination, particularly yellow and navy. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the Sunday Stamps blog, the Design Team behind the blog or to just see what other designers came up with for this sketch, hop on over to Sunday Stamps. With this I must leave you for a time, I will return shortly with something new. Until then keep Crafting, Exploring and Creating. See you soon.
