A Special Someone for Valentines or Birthday

Anything to do with animals and I am all over it, when I saw this in the Mini catalog release, my hands went to my cheeks, and a whispered “uh oh” came from my mouth…the stamp set is soooo stinkin’ cute, I could not pass it up. Then Stampin’ Up! had the greatest of ideas….a coordinating die set for this stamp set (and other coordinating die sets, all new coordinating sets will be released 4 February 2020 – check out this flyer). Now these cute little critters can go anywhere and pop right off the card front!!!
So, apparently during photographing this adorable little card, a dog fur somehow joined in the fun. I didn’t recognize it was there until just now, but it is only in two, selective photo bombing. So please disregard my sweet girl’s (Smokey) stray piece of hair.
Oddly enough I had many a ….squirrel….moment while trying to get this card together. I finally made it to the finish line and couldn’t be happier! A little exhausted, chasing squirrels is a lot of work. Perseverance is the word of the day.
Lets get to it, the card base is Crumb Cake card stock cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ for a side opening card. With blending brushes (I have much better success with these) on water color paper, I blended a sky scene using Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove, Balmy Blue and Blue Berry Bushel. Using a mask I created from another piece of card stock and the cloud die from, the now retired, Rainbow Builder die set #145659 – it was on the Clearance Rack but appears to be sold out. With white embossing powder I added another layer of clouds using the Pattern Party Decorative Mask over the blended clouds. On the Flirty Flamingo I also white heat embossed the floral background stamp from the January Paper Pumpkin.
On Whisper White and with the Special Someone Stamp set, the raccoon is stamped in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, the Squirrel is in Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate, the mouse uses 2 generations of Smoky Slate. These adorable critters are further outlined/detailed with a fine tip Micron Pen. The critters are die cut using the outstanding coordinating dies, that also have all the flowers, grass and balloons. While die cutting, I cut several of everything for easy, fast future use. The flowers are cut in Real Red, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight. The balloons are stamped with Real Red and Flirty Flamingo, using generational stamping. The grass is die cut from Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The front layer of greenery is shaded with a bit of Old Olive. The water color paper is to big for a card front so it survived a major trim. Each portion of that front panel is matted with a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and adhered to the card front.
The sentiment from the Special Someone stamp set “For a Very Special Someone” is gold heat embossed on Vellum, then held in place with the dimensional behind the middle balloon. As always the inside is not to be forgotten, flowers that were stamped and die cut during the earlier die cutting session were nestled together and glued into the bottom corner of the Whisper White interior lining.
