Card Challenges

A Sweet Strawberry Hello.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

This week at CAS Colours & Sketches, our fearless hostess Julie, has brought us a sketch to challenge our minds and get those creative juices flowing. We would love to see what this sketch has inspired you to create, so hop on over to our blog and post your creation. Can’t wait to see what you create.

Here is where this sketch took me. I don’t know about you, but even down here in the south, I am a bit tired of cloudy, dreary, wet, cold days. The Sweet Strawberry Bundle has been taking over center stage these days and thoughts of warmer sunny days.

  • Card base is Basic White Thick cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ to create a standard A2 top folding card.
  • Stitched Rectangles dies and Basic White cardstock create the matt. I use the largest Stitched Shapes Oval die to cut the oval from the center of the Rectangle. The die cut rectangle embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder
  • On the Stitched Oval I stamped “Hello there” in Poppy Parade. On some scrap Basic White cardstock, from the Sweet Strawberry Bundle which includes the stamp set and punch, I stamped the Strawberry outline and filler image with Poppy Parade. Then the large and small flower outline image and filler images are stamped in Bumble Bee and the stem in Just Jade. All images are cut with the coordinating punch, and attached to the stitched oval with glue. – TIP: With this punch it is a very good idea to use a scrap piece of cardstock to create a template of how to layout the images for quick punching and to conserve your cardstock. Put the template over the cardstock you want to stamp on, ink your images and line up through the template, now the images are in the right place per the punch and should punch out easily.
  • Attach the embossed rectangle mat in the center of the card base with glue, attach the stitched oval in the oval opening of the mat with some adhesive backed craft foam for a bit of dimension.
  • Inside I attach another strawberry and flowers grouping.

I can totally relate to being tired of the cold and dreary. I’m just outside of Chicago.. weather is awful. Your delightful card makes me long for warm weather and sunshine.

I have been seeing photos from folks showing off their snow, that I follow on Facebook, etc.

Yay! More berries! I am very intrigued by that textured embossing folder. Love it.

Yes it’s freezing here in the UK Shannon and I too am ready for spring and summer and some delicious home-grown strawberries! For now I’ll make do with your sweet card though!

Thank you! I moved to Alabama from Kentucky…long ago – via Savannah Georgia. I came from the land of ice and snow to warm sunny days nearly year round….I miss the snow for sure but the cool dreary days that we get frequently in the mountains of Alabama can wear on the nerves eventually. We get a taste of snow from time to time, my kids love that taste – but they are Alabama natives through and through.

Gorgeous CAS design and I love how you stamped inside the card!

What a gorgeous little grouping of strawberry and flowers Shannon, and just right for that cheery hello! Love the inside-the-card stamping too. We’re having our second lot of snow and ice in England and we are all SO ready for the spring! Vicky x
