Today comes a post created solely for the Global Design Project #GDP246 Sketch Challenge. This card went absolutely and completely manly. Not sure why because all the inspiration pieces were not quite as dark as this one got – but I love its grungy masculine feel! Don’t know from which toe nail it came from, but I am rather pleased that it chose to present itself.
Like I said, this card went totally masculine! Black, Basic Gray, Silver, Copper, Champagne, the gilded ice technique, it think is what this is called. Versamark on the largest gear collection, then black embossing powder over Champagne foil gears, making the gears look worn and dirty. The other gears look clean and new with the clean gears. I feel this is a card any mechanic or car loving individual would love! If for a mechanic or car re-building engineer, the sentiment of “Thanks” is always appreciated! All of the stamps and die cuts come from the Geared up Garage stamp set and the Garage Gears Dies. I love it! The strip created for the inside of the card at the exposed portion to the front of the card, is a piece of patterned paper from the In Good Taste Designer Designer Series Paper. Using the “grease marks” image from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set I did 2 generations of stamping in Gray Granite Ink and then applied a 2nd layer of “grease marks” in full strength basic gray. I absolutely love how, in my mind, that turned out to look so much like grease stained concrete!
The sentiment “You’re a Classic” is from the same stamp set and is black heat embossed on Champagne Foil (my favorite! – not silver, not gold) and matted with some left over concrete stained stamped patterned paper. The “Thanks” sentiment is from the Well Written die cuts, cut again from Champagne foil and mounted on black fun foam.
Inside I had to put a champagne die cut of the car from the die set, then of course I needed to attached a white panel for messages.
Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit.
