Anybody else’s head spinning? Already the end of May. If it weren’t for the level of my exhaustion and the monthly gas bill indicating that I have been going and doing, I would be inclined to feel a bit like Rumpelstiltskin. I vaguely remember going and doing, but it has all passed by so quickly, I can’t be to sure.
Insane, however, Samantha has helped to keep my mind in the game with her challenges through the month and here is her final sketch challenge of the month. We would certainly love to see what you are inspired to create with this challenge, please do post your creations on our blog at CAS Colours & Sketches.
So here in Alabama, the heat has arrived, as I create this blog it is 93 degrees outside, sunny, humid and very little breeze. Memorial Day weekend is this coming weekend and this is the final week of school for my kids. Finally made it through. All of this has brought about thoughts of the beach so The Timeless Tropical Stamp set seemed to fit the bill.
I stamped the hibiscus in this set with the baby wipe and re-inker technique to create a custom color combo using Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo – I used my colored pencils to color in the flower with the same colors. The leaf is stamped in Old Olive and colored with Old Olive, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green colored pencils. Both of these images were created and die cut with their coordinating die in the In the Tropics Die set long long ago. When I have images I know I will be using a great deal, I stamp and die cut them so they are on the ready, then finish them off as needed. I used the Aloha die from the die set to create my greeting….cut from the coordinating Designer Series Paper, however, that paper collection is long retired. The Basic White panel is cut with the largest die from the Scalloped Contours die set. Inside the card is lined with another die cut Basic White panel and subtly stamped with another flower image from the stamp set, using the same custom baby wipe stamp pad technique as I used for the hibiscus.
