You may have read in past posts, come August and September, there seems to be a birthday in the family just about every week! I am always in need of a birthday card at this time of year. My nephew falls into this wild and crazy time. He is on the younger side so this card needed to been bright and fun. I saw Jan B, an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in England had created a You Tube Video on how to make this awesome card. I have attached the link HERE. Me trying to explain how to make this card in a manner that is understandable would be beyond me. My dimensions are a bit different from Jan’s, I needed to make this card work with 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock, my letters are smaller than hers and my longest word is Birthday – 8 letters. Not required but the card does look best if a square is placed on one side of each mountain per row (make sure they are facing the correct directions) – top row will go on the left side of the mountain and the bottom row of squares will attach on the right side of the mountain. This is why I say 16 squares.

  • Night of Navy Cardstock – 5-1/2” X 11” scored at 4-1/4″, 5″, 5-3/4″, 6-1/2″, 7-1/4″, 8″, 8-3/4″, 9-1/2″, 10-1/4″ (3/4″ apart) – card front
  • Night of Navy Cardstock – 5-1/2″ x 10-1/4″ scored at 3/4″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/4″, 3″, 3-3/4″, 4-1/2″, 5-1/4″, 6″ (3/4″ apart) – card back –
  • Glue the first 3/4″ fold flap from the card back to the inside of the last 3/4″ (10-1/4″) fold from the front of the card. It should appear as a seamless accordion.
  • 16 Night of Navy squares – 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
  • 16 pieces of DSP – Beauty of the Earth – Label me Lovely Punch (dimension: 2-1/8″ x 2-1/8″)
  • 1 sheet Basic White cardstock to create your own DSP – I used Textures & Frames from the Sale-A-bration catalog
  • 4 pcs of Garden Green cardstock cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ Additional scrap for letters I used the Playful Alphabet dies
  • Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Real Red cardstock scrap to die cut or punch decorative elements – I used the floating chic and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Birthday Chic bundle, Stitched Stars dies and a retired balloon punch.
  • 18″ ribbon – I used 3/8″ Sheer Real Red Ribbon.
  • Basic White and Daffodil Delight cardstock for the Tailored Tags dies
  • Happy Birthday sentiment from Sweet Ice Cream

This is not a difficult project, there are just a lot of parts and pieces that make it a bit fiddlely. Such a super cute card for any occasion. The video by Jan B will clear it all up.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item. I will return soon with something new. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and without doubt, keep on crafting, exploring and creating.
