This is a card I created with the Sketch Challenge at Global Design Project #GDP230. I created another which I posted for the Challenge rather than this card. This card was created while one of our dogs was away having his leg amputated due to a broken shoulder resulting from bone cancer. On the same day my son was having surgery on a broken finger which is ultimately costing him a season of basketball. The school season is over, but basketball is essentially year round. He had just been picked up for the Spring Season on a team that was going to be a great fit for him on so many levels. The second practice and he ends the season with a broken finger. His heart (and ours) is broken. This card I think quite clearly reflects the somber mood running around the house at this point.
I am happy to say, every one is home, recovering, resting and hoping for the best. I created this card with a gorgeous product medley introduced in the 2020 Mini January – June catalog. At first this was a medley I crinkled my nose at, pretty but not me. Something shifted in the cosmos and I found myself loving everything about this set and finally made it mine.
This card is created on a Basic Gray card base. The matt layer is Terracotta tile which coordinates with the pattern paper in the medley I chose to go with on this card. Using the dies included in this medley, I was able to cut and image from the pattern paper to use on the front of the card. I cut a circle with the stitched circle dies in vellum and the same Terracotta Tile Pattern Paper. I then cut a smaller circle Terracotta Tile mat for the the die cut floral image. The sentiment “I’m Always Here for you” is stamped in Terracotta Tile Ink then cut with the Stitched Rectangle Die to size. Meaning I shortened the rectangle from the original size. I did the same with the same Stitched Rectangle for the Terracotta Tile mat. For embellishment, I used the Terracotta Tile sequins from the Woven Threads Assorted Sequin mix, then topped the sequin with a gold metallic pearl. Inside the card is lined with a piece of Whisper White then touched with a dash of Terracotta Tile card stock using another die from the coordinating die set in the Medley.
