Welcome to December! Patricia our fearless challenge organizer and this months hostess starts the month off with a really fun color challenge.
Sometimes I have to tell myself….don’t overthink it. I can sometimes take the easiest things and turn them into the most difficult…just because! Primary colors, what is something new, fun and exciting I can do that will blow everyone away? Well first of all, these cards are to be clean and simple! Getting too crazy, does not really apply. So as I am rummaging through my latest and greatest looking for the coolest thing ever, what do I find? My gnome stamp set staring back – tapping his fingers on his crossed arms under his beard saying ever so kindly – Yoo hoo, use me! So I agreed and here we are, me and my gnome muse. Cute little guy. I used the coordinating die set to cut all his parts and pieces (only 4 total) from scrap pieces of Real Red, Starry Night, Basic White and Very Vanilla cardstock and glued them all together. I attached him to a panel I cut from a Stitched Rectangles die and mounted to a slightly larger piece of Crushed Curry cardstock. The sentiment “Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year” comes from the same stamp set and is stamped in Starry Night Ink. I though the sentiment looked and sounded just as basic and to the point as the gnome would say it – Therefore perfect – I attached those panels to a Basic White cardbase. Inside I stamped the Mushroom home he resides in, I felt a Holiday well wishing card just needed the warm touch of home. I colored in the “roof” and window with Real Red and Crushed Curry Watercolor pencils, the blue is the best I could do, using Pacific Point watercolor pencil. The pencils gave the softer look I think works best inside the card, where the message is far more important than the decoration.
