Cloud Nine Kind of Day #GDP186 Global Design Project

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by my blog.
It’s a SKETCH challenge over at Global Design Project this week. There are so many ways to interpret a sketch. How would you interpret this sketch. I find challenges to be so much fun, they encourage you to, maybe, think outside of your box and they expose you to other peoples interpretation of that challenge. I always find the examples and the challenge entries to be eye opening and at times liberating. You should check it out and play along! I have so much fun.

My interpretation of this Sketch challenge is pretty “lofty”! (Tongue and Cheek 🙂 I say that mostly because of the subject matter that jumped into my mind straight away. Somehow my head went straight to Hot Air Balloon. Maybe because my heart is a bit heavy at the impending retirement of the Stampin’ Up! Lift Me Up Stamp set and coordinating die set Up & Away, I guess into each life some rain must fall. And of course …. All good things must come to an end. Which could only mean this opens the door for shiny new stuff!!!! I like new things. Stay tuned the new 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is loaded with lots of gorgeous (I do mean gorgeous…and of course shiny) new things. May will also bring a couple of new and shiny things like the MAY PAPER PUMPKIN KIT designed by Stampin’ Up! Co-founder Shelli Gardner. It appears to be very earthy in its color selection and subject matter. Then of course EVERYTHING IS ROSEY MEDLEY is very shiny and gorgeous. Navy and Pink, Rose Gold, a gorgeous combination. This Medley will release for a limited time 1 May – 31 May, don’t miss it. Enough lamenting, on to the Challenge at hand from Global Design Project #GDP186

To be on cloud nine, you have to be up high way above the clouds. So I chose the bottom border element in the sketch to be clouds. I did “distress” the bottom of the clouds to help define them a bit more. The focal point is the Hot Air Balloon from the Up & Away Thinlit dies. Fluffy clouds alone do not imply up IN the sky, I achieved that by sponging some Balmy Blue ink over a die cut cloud from this set. Achieving a cloud filled blue sky. I couldn’t get the lighting to work with me well enough for the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter I applied to the smaller clouds raised with dimensionals, to sparkle. The Sentiment is from the Lift Me Up Stamp set. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and Versamark Ink, then I heat embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder. This way, the black embossing powder wouldn’t come back to haunt me, as it always does. I always think I am free and clear with the black powder, once the heat gun is on suddenly specks show up where I know I did not see a thing. Overall, I love this card, the colors and the theme of this project, I hope you do to.

If you are interested in the products I used for this project they are listed below. The stamp set and coordinating dies are retiring as of 3 June, so jump on it before they float away.
