Card Challenges

Coming up Daisies

Hey there everyone, thanks for stopping by my blog today. Well here comes another card challenge. This one is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge PCC333

It took me a minute to come up with what I wanted this card to look like, I started thinking about doing something with birds as a focal point. I have been showing my bird stash a lot of love lately…..maybe it is Spring Fever. Out of no where all the thought I had put into birds just disappeared and thus entered the Daisy! Get the connection, yea, no, me either – but it happened and it took off from there.

I love daisies, they are one of my most favorite flowers, they way they just popped into my head is not that far fetched, it’s just that the birds have definitely been the attention grabber for me lately. Once I got out my Daisy Delight Stamp set and the Large Daisy punch, a little bit of linen and burlap ribbon, white and yellow cardstock, it was off to the races. The card just came together. I think it turned out really sweet. I used Stitched Rectangular Dies to cut out the “frame” from So Saffron cardstock. On a piece of Whisper White Cardstock I stamped the daisies for a homemade DSP. I first stamped the daisy in full strength So Saffron, then stamped the again creating the 2nd generation stamp background layer of petals for each daisy. I used Soft Suede (stamped off) to create the centers. For the leaves I also did 2nd generation stamping. I stamped the outline full strength Pear Pizazz then for the 2nd step I stamped off and filled in the leaf. The highlighted daisy I stamped in full strength So Saffron onto Whisper White and Crushed Curry Cardstock, punched each flower out with the matching punch. Separated the layers with a dimensional then attached to the card with a dimensional. I used the Layered Leaves embossing folder on the Whisper White mat for a bit more texture and interest. The Sentiment if from the Jars of Love stamp set and the sentiment tag came from the Wonderful Romance die set. I wove the linen ribbon through the spaces around the die cut. The sequins are from the Gingham Gala Sequin collection.
